 | Dr. Flickinger Home and Office: York Springs, PA | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Sep 22, 2009 | For years this was the home and office of William Flickinger, the only doctor within at least eight miles. The door in the middle was the entrance to a waiting room. The window to the right of the door was part of the waiting room. It was maybe 11 feet wide, possibly sixteen long with an open stairway off to the back and right of it. The rooms to the left and right of the waiting room were the two rooms that the doctor practiced in. There were no appointments, it was come and wait in line. In the 1960's an office visit was $3. He was probably in his forties or early fifties at that time. The tower on the back was a TV antenna and a two way radio that his wife or staff could use to contact him on the road. The family lived upstairs. |
