Ecton Church - Church Mass or Scratch Dial

Mass dials, or "Scratch Dials" as they are also known, were placed on the south side of most churches in England. The lines radiating outwards from the centre hole, in which was placed a short stick, showed the times of the various church services before clocks were invented.
