 | Stone Home Along South Baltimore St – North Side | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Mar 20, 2009 | The east side of the street had lower cost construction. This impressive stone home is interesting because what is obviously the front of the home is perpendicular to Baltimore St, the wall ot the left is parallel. The other side of the home is also impressive and is pictured elsewhere in this collection. Although I have no basis other than the construction this was probably a road house. Mt. Holly was along the Baltimore Pike. It was just north of the Holly Gap (pictured elsewhere). The road to Gettysburg and Hanover passed here and split just south of the gap. With Gettysburg and Hanover being more than twenty miles to the south this would have been a place to stop. Carlisle, the next large town to the north is about six miles.
