 | A Milk House on an Adams County Farm | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Mar 22, 2009 | Cows were milked. The milk was transferred to milk cans from the individual buckets. The cans were placed in the milk house. The driver picked up the milk. The milk houses were located close to the road for easy access. Some of them were really close. Some like this one were really, really close. At one time this road that intersects Route 30 about four miles east of town was not this wide and the milk house was more than two feet from the road. But one day someone got a little too far to the right and bang. Note the shifted portion of the block wall! |
