Alas Background

I present my art annually at a local Science Fiction / Fantasy convention called, Mid South Con. Every year, just before the convention, I prepare at least one new piece especially as the center piece of the show. This year I wanted to make a piece demonstrating my ability to create a work of art suitable as a magazine or book cover, allowing negative space for text, while still having a pleasing composition. In Bryce I set up this image as a kind of backdrop for the ultimate piece I planned to give the simple title, Alas. In Photoshop I added the digital signature.
