The Burning-ghat

In Hindu custom the dead bodies are consigned to fire. Philosophically, the mortal body is consists of five elements viz. fire, earth, air, water and space. The fire takes the dead to heaven. Hindus believe that burning their bodies on the bank of holy Ganga in Varanasi at Manikarnika ghat is all the more auspicious.
