 | A Bluegrass Banjo Player at Apple Harvest Festival | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Nov 4, 2008 | This guy plays a mean Banjo. Note the capo on the neck, the banjo's neck, not his. For someone who doesn't know what a capo is, check the neck between the third and fourth frets from the tuning knobs. Note the frets get closer together as they go further down the neck. The thing that clamps over the neck is a capo. Putting it on allows the musician to finger it as if he is playing in let's say the key of C and the banjo makes the music it would have if he were fingering it in another key. They are also called a cheater. Note the blue pick is not being used at the instant the picture was taken but his other fingers are pulling strings up rather than picking down. If you want a good trivia question, ask how many strings a banjo has. It's five. That's the banjo.
