Location: Lingayen Gulf, January 6, 1945. Kamikaze attacked USS Columbia (CL-56) January 6, 1945, the Japanese kamikaze attacks to the light cruiser USS Columbia visible Japanese planes swooped down. After one plane went down near the side of the ship, the second attack on the USS Columbia, planes and bombs hit two decks before exploding. crew of 13 people were killed and 44 wounded, while the squirt gun jammed, causing water fires. Three days later, when Columbia floated helplessly near the coast, another kamikaze attack, killing 25 and wounding 97.
