CHRISTMAS Mist

Christmas either 1999 or 2001. I can't remember which. I was trying to take a picture of the lights on our Christmas Tree. The room was in total darkness. I forgot to turn off the flash for the first one. This is what I caught. A white mist sitting at the end of my couch. Can you expain this?
