Beetle palm (Areca catechu), erroneously called "beetle nut", is the areca palm or areca nut palm. It is an ornamental plant and its nut is a popular chewing in the Philippines and other Asian countries. It is locally known as "nganga" among the Tagalogs and "bwa" among Ilocanos.
