An Uninvited Dinner Guest; eat, Feeding, grounghog

An Uninvited Dinner Guest

I thought it was odd that there were no squirrels feeding at their regular feeding time. When I took a closer look I found out why. Mr Groundhog came to call and frightened everyone away.

Uh oh! Are they mean? Or is it just because they're bigger than squirrels? He looks kind of cute though.

Icy, thanks for stopping in.

Lucy, you say it's a first. Does this mean you don't have groundhogs where you live?

bermosa, thank you. They aren't as sweet as chipmunks but he did take a good picture, didn't he?

Dee, they don't seem to be mean. I think it was because he was a new comer. I don't know why he insists on eating with the others because he doesn't eat seed or peanuts...only greens. Yes, he is cute...and big!

Darlene, that little fellow looks like his hind quarters are shaved. The ones I see have fur all over. Did you notice that?

Hi,Ruby. I did notice that. Last year he was naked but I see the hair is starting to grow in now. I worried about him when winter came but it looks like he managed to stay warm...he has a wife this year too so I will be waiting to see if there will be young ones. They live under the old barn out back which will be renovated in summer, I hope it won't force them from their home.

Awww that's so sweet! I've never seen one of those before, we don't get anything like that in England.

I did not know the squirrels would be afraid. I have never seen a ground hog. I think you are saying they are not cuddly and cute?
