Dinner Time

All times of the day are dinner time for squirrels once the cold weather is near. They will still come in winter to be fed but not as often. This little one was born last spring and was the runt of the litter so I give him a little extra to fatten him up for the cold weather.

A cute one,but that is the first black squirrel I have seen. Ours are all gray with whitish tails.

I have never seen a black squirrel either.

Nice snap, and I'm sure he appreciated the attention and snack. Aren't black squirrels somewhat rare? I have only seen a few.

A few people have commented about the scarcity of black squirrels but they are plentiful here in the central part of Ontario. They are a lot smaller than the grays and a bit more timid.

I am glad you like my pictures enough to stop by for another look. I do feel blessed to have such a happy backyard and I have learnt much from my little visitors.
