 | Double-yolked Egg | | by thestickman | | published on Oct 25, 2008 | We occasionally get eggs with "double yolks" in them. Back on the farm in western New York state, I raised chickens and several of my hens would regularly produce "double yolk" eggs. I let several of the hens "steal the nest" (hide away and let her try to raise a clutch of chicks) but they never hatched. Once or twice though, a chick would almost hatch, and it would have two heads. But the egg "died" a few days before it was about to hatch, probably due to the deformity that would have caused it to not survive anyway if it had hatched... |
