Two Stationary Gas Engines at Williams Grove

by Ralph Brandt
published on Nov 4, 2009

This display shows the size variation of the stationary gas engines used on the farm. The smaller one will be about one HP, the larger not more than ten. The rubber tired carriage is not period, but these were on wheels, probably in this case four wheels with two axels, one of them pivoted so that it could be pulled by horses. This is one very large hunk of iron. Imagine OHSA and the open pulleys and belts! Another smaller engine (green) in the background is on the kind of cart I mentioned. One of the yellow wheels can be seen. Unfortunately I did not see the relevance and take another picture.
