V-bar-v Petroglyph Site, Verde Valley, Arizona

The beautiful and remarkably well-preserved V-Bar-V petroglyph site is located in the Verde Valley of central Arizona. The Sinagua Indians created more than 1,000 petroglyphs on a series of rock panels between 1100 and 1450 CE. Some of the petroglyphs coincide with the corn growing season and are illuminated by light at certain times of the year. This site became part of the V-Bar-V Ranch in the early 1900s, but it is now operated by the U.S. Forest Service.
