Wooden Barn in York Springs Pa

by Ralph Brandt
published on Oct 31, 2009

This place has character. It is next to the old Pittneturf Funeral home. The building is showing signs of deterioration but it is an example of a PA wooden barn. The vents were at the top to make a chimney to pull out heat. Hay stored in one end of the barn needed to be ventilated to prevent fires. The slats on the end to the left was a corn crib where unshelled corn was stored to dry. The opening between the corncrib and the barn was a wagon shed.
