 | Wooden Barn in York Springs Pa | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Oct 31, 2009 | This place has character. It is next to the old Pittneturf Funeral home. The building is showing signs of deterioration but it is an example of a PA wooden barn. The vents were at the top to make a chimney to pull out heat. Hay stored in one end of the barn needed to be ventilated to prevent fires. The slats on the end to the left was a corn crib where unshelled corn was stored to dry. The opening between the corncrib and the barn was a wagon shed. |
