Feeding Time!

by Karen Gross
published on Mar 18, 2009

New born kittens, unlike newborn humans, instinctively find the milk spigot and feed themselves. Human mothers have to read books on nursing, and then get the maternity ward nurses to try to get those cute little babies to latch on. My first fight with my now 15 year old was over nursing vs bottle feeding. She won that one. It was a sign of things to come. (She really is a great kid - and she hates it when I tell stories about her. It's called Mother's revenge!)

You are right, kittens and some other baby animals use their survival instinct to find their food supply, when they are hungry. We humans have a harder time, but eventually get the hang of things. Great job and photos.
