Half Ways Grown Up

by Brenda Nelson
published on Jun 30, 2009

My little bottle baby, born in January, and abandoned by her mom only minutes before we found her, she had some of the placenta still on her, and it was below freezing. Lucky to be alive! She is now almost five months of age. Her unofficial name is "black baby". Here is her picture at one hour old http://www.picable.com/Nature/Animals/Bottle-Feeding.449947.

She's a chubby little thing now. I tried to look at the new born pic, but it wouldn't load for me, so I went to your photo page. Still didn't see it, but lots of good animal pics there.

To see the baby pic you have to copy and paste it without the period at the end of the link.. thats a mistake. We sold her sister, bottle feeding was a lot of work. This one we are keeping - her dad had 6 horns and was black and white. We really were lucky, we found her only because we wanted to take pictures of some twins that had been born a few days earlier.. when we went out we heard the new lambs baahing.. and took a while to realize who the mom was - she had walked away - poor gal had suffered a stroke. My husband took the pic of her as a new lamb because I am bottle feeding her at the time. WOW I was suprised at the growth!

The little one is adorable! I want to pet her! So, is the mother ok if she had a stroke? I hadn't realized animals could have strokes from giving birth.

To clarify - the mom had the stroke the summer prior to giving birth - we had no idea she had even been able to get pregnant.
