 | A Man Made Waterfall | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Mar 22, 2009 | This man made waterfall is less than 100 yards from US 30 and PA233. It is the end of a quarter mile mill race from a man made pond. Unlike most water power that was used to grind grain, this was used for power and water for the Thaddeus Stevens ironworks that was located in the background of this picture. That ironworks was burned by rebel soldiers on July 1, 1863 and only this pond and race, a furnace and a small blacksmith shop remains. Click Caledonia below for more pictures of this area. |
