 | Lightning on The Ground! | | by thestickman | | published on Sep 4, 2009 | The week of August 20th, there were tornadoes a bit north and east of the city of Toronto, CANADA. Fortunately, we were in New York state at the time. The major calamity missed up, but right in front of where we live a live power line came down and it must have sparkled quite a bit on the ground. The power line "welded" the ground, killed the grass and the line itself eventually melted into the ground. Slag of copper, aluminum and plastic coating was all that remained in a "trench" that was about one-inch deep. The power line event scorched the sidewalk like an arc-welder on steel plate would have done. The best overtake on this is the distance images, to see the extent of the event. I'll be writing this article shortly... |
