These are rare to find. It was built as a slave shack before the Civil War. After the war, it was uses has a place for ranch hands to live. Sometimes Share Croppers used them. I took this picture today. This one was on a plantation where there are several very old pecan trees.

This looks like an old farmers shack but definitely not a slave shack. Slave shacks were wooden with wooden roofs. They also didn't have tin roofs.

Many slave shacks that are still standing have ended up with tin roofs or something newer. This especially happens if the shack was turned into a place for hired ranch hands to stay.

A great Picture. It reminds of the very old westerns on television.
