 | B-17 Flying Fortress - Tail Gun Position | | by Ralph Brandt | | published on Feb 21, 2007 | This is a picture of the world war ii b-17 "909" flown by the collings foundation while at Harrisburg pa. this is the tail gun position from outside. note the gunner's view was through the area above the guns. these guns, unlike the waists were in a powered turret. tail gunners were selected for small size - like the ball and top gunners - to fit in the gun area.
