 | Entrepreneurial Achievement Recognized | | by Pete Macinta | | published on Jun 1, 2009 | Gary and Celeste Gordy were granted on May 13 certificates for their entrepreneurial achievement in successfully completing the ten week FastTrac New Venture program held at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills Maryland. Mrs. Gordy intends to open a beauty supply store, while Mr. Gordy is considering a cafe. Mr. Gordy was unavailable for the photograph. Seen with Mrs. Gordy is James Cornish, president of the Pine Street Committee (PSC) which sponsored a scholarship for the couple to take the course. The PSC feels taking training in entrepreneurship is a way for one to learn about working with grants and small business loans. Though scholarship funds are not frequently available, the PSC is available as a network to those interested in starting a small business. For more information, call (410) 901-1397 or email empowermentcenter@ymail.com. Picture was taken in front of the Empowerment Center in Cambridge, Maryland, where the PSC conducts most of its activities. |
