Peyto Lake

This is a commonly photographed lake in Banff National Park, Alberta. Located between the Saskatchewan Crossing and Lake Louise this is a beautiful view of the glacier fed lake. The hike to the view point is easy, keep a look out for woodland creatures. On sunny days it looks even better.

Friendly Wild Pasture Bird

This little bird could fly but didn't. It hung around with my daughter and I when we were out in the pasture taking pictures of our Donkey and some loose horses. I suppose it was use to hunting for bugs around the animals feet so we were not scary to it. I do not know what kind of bird it is. We know it could fly because it eventually flew up and landed on a fence post.

Esme

I am sure our cats were confused when our daughter bought this pet hedgehog, whom she has named Esme (character from Twilight). Hedgehogs are nocturnal so not a pet suitable for people who are light sleepers. Esme is seven weeks old, she didn't like the flash so we didn't take too many pictures.

Your Ears Look Funny

A while ago a few loose horses showed up in the pasture next to my house. Sadly they were underweight. Aggie (the donkey) must have thought they were funny looking, ears too short and too much hair on their tails. Their owner came and got them later that day. I hope he feeds them.

This Ring-Tailed Lemur sold at the Innisfail Odd and Unusual Auction Oct 9. The winning bid was $1600. It is one of the unusual pets offered for sale twice yearly at this kind of auction. Permits are required in many areas to own such an animal. If you had a few dollars to spare (and the permits) you could have out-bid the winning buyer.

A freak snowfall left my plants covered with snow before their leaves even fell off. No matter, it melted later in the day. After a long drought the moisture was needed, even if it was late.

Smelly Snowy Feet

Challenged to take a picture of naked feet in the snow, I opted for just one foot, after all it was cold and I still had to walk back to the house. Taken after a snow storm Oct 6, 2009. The location is west of Westerose Alberta. Later in the day nearly all the snow had melted. YEAH!

Odd Photography Occurrence

It was a snowy day and I wanted to take pictures, the first three all had this odd color, I don't know why, and had not noticed anything until I went to upload them to the computer. No photoshopping except a crop. I shut the camera off, walked a few feet and took more pictures, all of which were normal. This is my pasture, my back yard.
