|  | Mary's Calm Heroic 12 Yr Old | Portrait of a woman I liked;we enjoyed one another's company and I often babysat for her two children when she had a date and I didn't; both of us were on a picnic one day with her kids, when we could not find her son, a little tow headed boy of 5. suddenly, his sister holered "there he is";we had picnicked near a stream that turned out to be deeper in spots than we could tell;he had been rolling down gras and landed in a deep spot in the stream;his 12 yr old sister was there as we ran toward them and she reached down, grabbed his shirt, pulled him right out;he shook his head & tried to make us believe he did it on purpose, to prractice swimming..did not fly, but he got dried off & we took him out for hot chocolate;it was 60 degrees that day & the water was cold;his sis kept her cool. |
