|  | Picture of Baby Pigeons | These pigeons are at least a week old. They are smaller than a fist. Pigeons lay two eggs, which hatch in 18-19 days. Sometimes only one will hatch, sometimes both. Parents share the duties of sitting on the eggs and feeding the young. After they are first hatched the parent stays with them but after a week or so the parents leave for longer periods of time. After about a month the pigeon babies will be full grown and flying around. |

|  | Start Out with a Bang | I drew this at night with some new markers I got. It's the largest piece I've done with crosshatching (It's only about the size of regular printing paper, but the paper is a little tanner, which is why the color looks so weird :-X). Did this on the day I got out of school, hence the name. |
|  | Double-yolked Egg | We occasionally get eggs with "double yolks" in them. Back on the farm in western New York state, I raised chickens and several of my hens would regularly produce "double yolk" eggs. I let several of the hens "steal the nest" (hide away and let her try to raise a clutch of chicks) but they never hatched. Once or twice though, a chick would almost hatch, and it would have two heads. But the egg "died" a few days before it was about to hatch, probably due to the deformity that would have caused it to not survive anyway if it had hatched... |
