Bottle Baby Lamb 10 Months Old

She was born on a winter day and her mom just walked away. If she was not found when she was, she would have frozen to death, she was still wet, and only minutes old in this first picture of her http://www.picable.com/Nature/Animals/Bottle-Feeding.449947 taken in January 2009.

I Did Not Give My Sheep a Mohawk

The first sheep is a ewe lamb who is shedding her woolly winter coat, she is a part Katahdin hair sheep - they shed. Her mother and sister (both not in this photo) shed totally, but this gal looks like she has a mohawk. The other sheep is actually an older ewe, of a different breed, a Barbado.

Cleaning Time

This is my bottle baby sheep. I was trying to get a picture of my sheep and kitties playing together (but was unsuccessful) but this gal was hanging around me wanting her head scratched and so on. Finally she lay down and started cleaning herself, something you rarely observe in sheep. She is black and white but faded with the sun.

Diamonds and Chicks

Diamond is the sheep on the left, her lamb is behind her (named Diamonds Girl). We have a few free range hens that like to be out with the sheep in the day. You can see all our animals love us and come running when they see the camera.

Half Ways Grown Up

My little bottle baby, born in January, and abandoned by her mom only minutes before we found her, she had some of the placenta still on her, and it was below freezing. Lucky to be alive! She is now almost five months of age. Her unofficial name is "black baby". Here is her picture at one hour old http://www.picable.com/Nature/Animals/Bottle-Feeding.449947.

Lambs

Day old lambs.

Mowing the Lawn

This was a photo from the fall of 2008 when my daughter and I let our sheep out for a bit of fun, and lawnmowing, on our lawn in front of the barn. We have a small mixed flock of sheep, some have hair, others have wool. The ones with horns are ram lambs, not even one year old.

This is my Breakfast, Leave Me Alone

Here we have some of my hair sheep ewes having a fine breakfast of hay and oats. You can see some of their lambs jump right into the feeder. Moments after taking the picture my wife called because another ewe had just delivered twins and she (my wife) needed help with getting them into a stall and warmed up. It was a cold morning.

Cute Baby Lamb

Aren't lambs cute? I cannot believe people eat them. Guess it's lucky for me I never cared for the taste of lamb. This little lamb is now getting bottle fed because his mother isn't looking after him.

Poor Little Guy

At one week old this little ram lamb was not doing nearly as well as his brother. We watched and sure enough his mommy wasn't looking after him, so we had to start bottle feeding the little guy. He is doing much better now.
