 | Katahdin Lamb Ram and Speckle | Speckle, on the right, is what you might think of as a regular sheep, she is a mature wool breed ewe, the younger ram, on the left, is a hair sheep, a breed known as a Katahdin. Hopefully we will have some lambs in the spring. Sheep have a five month gestation period, and we got him in October. You do the math. |
| | Bottle Baby Lamb 10 Months Old | She was born on a winter day and her mom just walked away. If she was not found when she was, she would have frozen to death, she was still wet, and only minutes old in this first picture of her http://www.picable.com/Nature/Animals/Bottle-Feeding.449947 taken in January 2009. |
| | Borrowing Milk From The Neighbours | Well actually she isn't a dairy cow, but she is my neighbor. There is a herd of cattle kept on the property next to us, I went to visit them and this gal was the only one who wanted to say "Hello". The pasture looks terrible, we have had a drought. |
| | Donkey by The Truckload | My donkey standing by my truck. Whether or not the truck is loaded probably really doesn't matter. |
| | How Now Purple Cow | Real cows are not purple to my knowledge but wouldn't it be grand if they were? These cows were in a link I created a while back called "Cows Gone Wild", you can read it here (and I hope you do, you might learn something) http://socyberty.com/advice/cows-gone-wild/ |

| | One Fine Bird | This is one of our Red Sussex hens. Her, and her chicken pals, stay in a shelter at night but free range with our other critters durring the day. You can see she likes having her picture taken. The hens eat alot of grasshoppers (they also get chicken feed) and lay lovely brown eggs. |
| | I Did Not Give My Sheep a Mohawk | The first sheep is a ewe lamb who is shedding her woolly winter coat, she is a part Katahdin hair sheep - they shed. Her mother and sister (both not in this photo) shed totally, but this gal looks like she has a mohawk. The other sheep is actually an older ewe, of a different breed, a Barbado. |
| | Feeding Apples to Diamond | Diamond is one of the first sheep we purchased when we moved to the country. Here my teenage daughter is feeding her some apples as a treat. Diamond is a pet, but she does help trim the grass. |
| | Two Chicks | This is me and one of our Red Sussex Hens. We keep them as free range birds for eggs. Four birds give us far more eggs than we need so we sell the extras cheap. The birds do an excellent job of controlling bugs, they spend the day eating grasshoppers and flies. Anyone looking for a unique pet should consider hens. |
| | Tall Corn Country | Friend Ruthann and best friend Honey indicate height of August corn in south central Indiana corn field. This field is dedicated to livestock feed. Like the song says, it's as high as an elephant's eye. |
