| | Scarlet Pimpernel | They seek it here, they seek it there … the elusive scarlet pimpernel! This bright little beauty has managed to survive in quite a hostile environment. Not only is it contending with arid soil and driving wind, it also has to try and avoid farm sprays; although thankfully the particular farmer who tends this field seems to leave a good expanse of cultivatable land around the edges of his land. Out of all the wildflowers we saw on this particular walk, I would say this delicate little flower was the rarest. |
